This is a program for seniors over 65 and/or disabled people of all ages administered by the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management. This program reimburses eligible low-income renters a portion of rent paid during the year. Applications are taken from April through September of each year.
As result of the restrictions due to COVID-19, we are asking clients to drop off their documentation at City Hall no later than September 29th. Once we receive all required paperwork, we will call you with any additional questions and arrange a time for you to sign the application.
You MUST be living in Norwich and have rented in Connecticut to apply here.
Income Limits - SINGLE…$37,600 or less/year
MARRIED…$45,800 or less/year
PLEASE BRING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Proof of ALL rent paid in 2020 (Rent receipts or letter from the landlord, not the lease)
Proof of ALL utilities paid in 2020 (A printout of PAYMENTS made to NPU (NOT what you were billed), receipts from gas/oil/propane/wood/coal company, etc.)
Proof of ALL household income for 2020 (1099 forms, W-2s, proof of Social Security benefits, pension income, investment income, etc.)
2020 Income Tax Return (If you filed a tax return you MUST bring a copy with you.)
Proof of TVCCA energy assistance grant
Disabled People who are not 65 or older MUST Also Bring:
Proof of 100% disability from the Social Security Administration.
