Brody’s Seafood Market

Posted on July 11, 2017 at 9:58 AM by Deb Hinchey

The “Team” met with Tom Brodeur, the owner and developer of a terrific new market at 1 Bridge Street, Occum.  This was once Harry’s Market.  Tom has gutted the interior, replacing the windows, lighting, kitchen equipment, signs and awnings.  He has recovered old memorabilia from the attic of the building and created a historical corner with great stories from the past, some dating back to 1934.  There is a piano dated 1891, made in Chicago and sold in Norwich.  It is still upstairs along with the original wood floor and stage.  Dancing and other entertainment was at the time most popular.

More to the present!  The market will offer take out, fresh and frozen meats, seafood, deli grinders, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and a small convenience store area.  Tom is hoping to open any day now.  He has installed charging stations, so, come, get some home cooked food, charge your phone and enjoy a peaceful meal. Or, get take out and go across the street to the Red McKeon Park.  Summer and seafood go together.
