Income Tax Assistance— From February to April, AARP volunteers provide income tax
assistance at the Senior Center to persons over the age of 50. Starting in January,
appointments are made on a first come basis.
Renters Rebate—(Norwich Human Services) must be filed between May 15th and
September 15th. Reapplication must be made every year. The program benefits single
and married persons. There are income limits. Appointments to apply begin in June.
Please call or check this website for signup dates after May 1st. Seniors in elderly
housing need to contact their Resident Services Coordinator.
Flu Clinic—(W.W. Backus Hospital) Once a year the Senior Center sponsors a Flu
Clinic for elderly residents. Please call or check this website in the fall for clinic dates.
Hearing Clinic—available every 3rd Thursday of the Month (call Dana @ 889-5960 for
appointment). Bob Sawyer BC-HIS, has been a Connecticut licensed hearing
instrument specialist and dispenser for nearly 20 years. He is also Board Certified
in Hearing Instrument Sciences by the International Hearing Society.
Hearing Screening — The screening is a short audiometric evaluation that will show
possible hearing loss and may reveal some medical conditions.
Hearing Aid Maintenance Service — Inspect and clean individual hearing instruments
to improve and prolong performance. In addition, damaged hearing instruments may
be sent out for repairs at below market cost.
Ear Wax Inspection and Screening — Inspect for ear wax accumulation and foreign
objects in the ear canal. Impactions and/or medical conditions will be referred to
appropriate outside professional. Also reveals any damage to the ear canal or eardrum.
