Smart Street Lighting Program
Updated April 28, 2011
The program initially called for a reduction in the total number of streetlights throughout the city. Concerns from residents about safety prompted the City Council to redirect our focus to more efficient lighting devices.
An example of this new focus is our effort to utilize lower cost lighting solutions. In cooperation with Norwich Public Utilities, we have installed energy efficient lighting in the period fixtures around City Hall. As the technology improves and becomes more cost effective, we will begin to change the street lighting throughout the city.
If you notice a street light that is not working, please call (860) 823-4158 with the pole number, or location of the burnt-out or flickering light.
