  • Preventative planning for public safety
  • Enforcement of laws
  • Administration of police personnel
  • Traffic authority
  • Issuance and recording of permits for vendors, auctioneers, and firearms

The Norwich Police Department has applied for funds in the amount of $18,419 under the 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program established within the United States Department of Justice. Said funding is to be used to purchase communications equipment in the form of police portable and /or mobile subscriber radio units. The program requires public participation in the process and the ability to comment.
